That means calculating how much yearly income you have, after taxes, in order to know the amounts that´s necessary to maintain your desired life style, taking into account how much money you´ll get every month from a pension, in those countries where social security does exist. Also, you have to consider how many years you´re going to live retired: the probability that you´ll live at least another 20 years from someone who retires at 55 is pretty high – around 66 percent of men and close to 76 percent of women. Women, on average live five years longer than men. Protecting yourself from financial disasters A good idea so as to not forget about retirement is making your savings like one of your purchases and subtracting them from your income, which will make it necessary to decrease your spending and increase your income.
