The Spanish labor market, among the most inefficient in the world

11/20/2014 | Europa Press – Europa Press English

The Spanish labor market has been found to be one of the most “inefficient” markets in the world in spite of all the reforms that have made, according to the data from the Instituto de Estudios Económicos (IEE) coming from a World Economic Forum report.

Specifically, Spain came in 100th of the 144 economies that were analyzed, which shows the Spanish labor market “is far from being efficient and flexible,” said the IEE.

The rest of the European Union labor markets have not been found to be among the most efficient in the world either. Among the top 10, only the United Kingdom appears and in fifth place, coming in behind Switzerland, which is in first place and is followed by Singapore, Hong Kong and the United States.

Among the top 20 came in Estonia, Denmark, Luxembourg, Latvia, Ireland and Sweden, while the Netherlands came in 21st and Finland 23rd.

Germany, on the other hand, does not have an excessively efficient labor market while coming in 35th, with Austria being placed at 43rd, France at 61st and Portugal at 83rd. Following Spain, Croatia was 106th, Greece was 118th and Italy was 136th.
